On Friday, May 22, 2020, volunteers from WFAE distributed 1,200 art supply kits to children in Livermore so that they can do art at home during the Bay Area shelter-in-place order. We distributed the art supply kits during the school meal distribution program at four Livermore Valley schools: Christensen, Junction Avenue, Marilyn Avenue and East Avenue. The Livermore school district is distributing an impressive 1,100 meals per day to children in need in the Livermore Valley. We also shared some of the art kits with CityServe, a crisis intervention organization, for them to give to the children who are struggling. The contents of the kits were carefully selected to appeal to elementary and middle school students, and included sketchbooks, watercolor paints, markers, pastels, and colored pencils. They were enthusiastically received and we hope they bring some joy through art during a challenging time.
